The Darts (US)

With members from both Phoenix, AZ and Los Angeles, CA, THE DARTS have exploded onto the scene with a fiercely classic sound that invests deeply in late 60’s garage, with shadows of horror and psychedelic rock – the perfect act for the Bride of Frankenstein’s bachelorette party. Live, THE DARTS hurtle out songs with the reckless abandon of a freight train about to run off the rails, but, thanks to their well-honed musicianship, the show becomes a seamless trajectory of grooving hooks and danceable, boogie backbeats.

Formed in 2016, following the end of their band The Love Me Nots, vocalist/keyboardist Nicole Laurenne (The Love Me Nots, Motobunny, Zero Zero) and bassist Christina Nunez (The Love Me Nots, The Madcaps) decided to finally put together the all-girl band they had been talking about for years. Tapping some of their favourite players for the project, like drummer Rikki Styxx (The Two Tens, The Dollyrots, Thee Outta Sites) the band quickly wrote and self-released two debut EPs back to back.

Within a few months of its formation, the band signed with notable UK garage label Dirty Water Records and in 2017 released their first full length album, Me.Ow., to international acclaim. THE DARTS have crisscrossed both the US and Europe constantly ever since, including performances at major festivals like Sjock Fest, Roots and Roses Fest, Down At The Nightclub Fest, Relache Fest and Munster Looney Fest.

In June 2018, Jello Biafra’s legendary punk label Alternative Tentacles Records joined forces with with Laurenne’s newly formed American arm of Dirty Water Records to release THE DARTS first 7” record, Subsonic Dream b/w Bullet. Biafra personally invited THE DARTS to perform at his sold-out birthday show at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, which added to the impressive list of bands they had already shared the stage with in their brief existence, including Black Lips, Electric Six, King Kahn and The Shrines, The Living End, Les Lullies, The Dwarves, and Turbonegro. The band has backed Biafra himself on stage and also backed Dwarves‘ frontman Blag Dahlia in his own side project.

In October 2018, THE DARTS, now joined by powerhouse Phoenix guitarist Meliza Jackson (decker.), supported legendary UK punk band THE DAMNED on their nationwide US tour, tearing the house down across North America, surfing in the wake of one of the most influential punk bands in history.

THE DARTS will release their newest full-length record, I Like You But Not Like That, featuring production by Bob Hoag assisted by Biafra himself, on Alternative Tentacles Records on May 24, 2019. The official release party will be the band’s raucous set at Punk Rock Bowling Fest in Las Vegas, followed by an appearance at the huge Bash Fest in Boise and then their next Europe tour in June. These vicious ladies are not to be missed.
