Devilish Presley

Devilish Presley – They Live!!
Gothabilly duo Devilish Presley have risen from the grave following the demolition of their crypt in foggy old east London. Comprising Jacqui Vixen bass and vocals, Johnny Navarro guitar and vocals and Elvis the drum machine; the band have impeccable Gothabilly credentials and an enviable live reputation. They first rose to prominence at club Dead & Buried in London following the release of their second album Disgraceland in the early noughties. At this Batcave inspired retro-night they got to play with some of the 80s finest including; Alien Sex Fiend, the Sex Gang Children and Ausgang. They signed with Wipe Out Music shortly after the release of their 3rd album Memphisto in 2005. This album garnered almost universal critical acclaim. They toured Europe and the UK relentlessly eventually clocking up over 800 gigs and were dubbed the ‘hardest working band in the UK’. They reached a peak in 2008 supporting the Damned on their 22 date So who’s Paranoid tour. That same year Johnny played guitar for the Meteors front-man and founder of Psychobilly P. Paul Fenech. Rehearsing with Fenech in Germany Johnny said at the time “My guitar playing improved 100% just by watching the devil’s master at work”.

2011 saw the release of The Dark Triad which was a more Horrorpunk affair with Jacqui taking over the lead vocals. It spawned what is still the bands most popular song The Beast Must Die. An entirely independent act (the band released all their albums on their own label) the decline in CD sales and the risible amounts made from streaming meant touring was no longer economically viable. They released a series of Youtube videos and one last album ‘The Electric Ballroom’ which was entirely crowdfunded by their fans.

In August 2020 the band reformed and announced plans for their seventh studio album ‘King Hell’. The ever outspoken Johnny Navarro explained the reasons for their return: “The Covid pandemic has decimated the music industry and ironically everyone now faces the same problems we did back in 2012. It is impossible to make enough money to pay for all the costs of touring. This Black Swan event has introduced a more level playing field, and rather than bitch and moan about it like entitled rock stars, I see it as an opportunity for strictly DIY zombies like ourselves. We’re back to dance on your graves”.
